music helps me breathe

I never really got into pavement like everybody else or has. I was also never a huge pixies fan. along with radiohead and fugazi. people expect you to hold some creed to these bands it seems. you like indie rock/pop aka sad bastard music-but no pavement!?!?! sweet jesus. also,I have no real guilty pleasures to be honest.if you looked at my collection of cds and my music I have downloaded,you'll find two aaliyah songs,two tonic,and two vertical horizon and I'm sure something equaly surprising. my list doesn't contain any back street boys or n sync,or any other popish group. I don't listen to that crap because it seriously annoys me. many times while driving with my mom or a friend and tha radio is on,I just can't take. it feels as though everybody on the radio is fake and attempted to be clever and witty but failed miserably.
now if you can name it,i've probably heard of it or know the words. do not ask me how,it just is. the other day all my friend had to do was start a song,one I hadn't heard in years,and I knew. i'm a nerd. these are the things that make me smile. what seriously makes my blood race.
i spent my child hood helping my mother oragnize her record and tape collections. listening to old records while cleaning the house or late at night in the summer. like the year my brother discovered my moms old beatle records. I was probably the only 8 year old who knew the words to hey jude and blackbird. maybe this is why I was socially retarded for a while there. or maybe I just peed my pants a lot,maybe both.
often times I even associate a person to their favorite band or style of music. its just how my brain works.
you know how in high fidelity,john cusacks character lists top 5 artists of the girls hes dated. well it matters,it totally matters. to understand me,my brain,you have to understand the music.

i will say this however,I'm an elitest asshole. I can not stand country music and its not allowed in my house or car.its just now how I was raised and I serioulsy hate it.
linkin park is not a good band nor will be it ever be. people who say they like "all kinds of music,I can't pick just one. i like just about everything". shut up and stop lieing. you say that because you honestly don't listen. you probably buy ugly clothing from stores like abercrombie and fitch and think nothing of it.
i seriously talked to a guy online who said he doesn't own any cds. that he feels people in bands shouldn't recieve such i dunno....glory? its music! good lord.

but seriously what annoys me so much right now...southern illinois local music fans. granted,I support whenever I can. I seriously do. my brother created an e-zine before he moved to h**ston. its great that he did this,but all anybody talks about it throwdown the band,in turn "throwing down" at shows. SHUT THE FUCK UP. get a mother fucking clue.
